I, personally, don't think he's going to be evil, but I think he might under control of smokey (read: when not in control alright, but able to flockify -- like fayid :D) and to the list. I'm really not sure how to feel. I felt like it was just a sort of guest list where Jacob okayed people's entrance, but I'm really not sure how to read it. Certainly Jacob touching people is one of the most bizarre mysteries for me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1674172348630471306.post-70377751039602109572010-02-06T15:08:17.729-05:002010-02-06T15:08:17.729-05:00AMAZING theory, Nate. Question: Since Sayid was "baptized" under Smokey, is he now going to be evil?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1674172348630471306.post-77784015200382516142010-02-05T20:35:59.171-05:002010-02-05T20:35:59.171-05:00OMG. My head has been spinning around the whole "flash sideways" thing that I haven't even begun to think about Sayid.

To the fist idea of servitude. This makes total sense. Richard did say, "Jacob made me this way" when he was asked about his inability to age, so we know that for sure. I was also wondering about why it took the Man In Black so long to find someone to kill Jacob, so your idea about the loophole also seems spot on. It makes sense that he'd have to convince a "servant" of Jacob to do it. I'm really liking this servant idea.

Part of me also thinks Alpert is tied somehow to the Black Rock, which makes me think about chains. In Season One, Episode 24 (Exodus, Part 2) Hurley, Jack, Kate, Locke, Danielle, and everyone's favorite science teacher Arzt travel to the Black Rock to find dynamite that would blow open the hatch. When they are inside the boat, they see skeletons in chains. For some reason, I think this may be connected to the Richard Alpert in chains comment, though I still think he is a servant of Jacob via the magic spring, like you said.

Let's talk about the water for a minute. It was clear because Jacob was alive and in control of the island, it's murky now which means the Man in Black is in control. LOVE IT! Great idea and I totally agree.

Additionally, could the water be symbolic of baptism? Richard And Ben were baptized into the spirit of Jacob? Sayid was baptized into the spirit of the Man in Black?

I love the idea that Sayid has to defeat Smokey. This also seems spot on. Whenever something bad ass needs to be done, the writers ALWAYS have Sayid do it. Think about it, he's the go-to ass kicker.

I think you're ideas are pretty awesome. I have one additional theory. Let me know what you think:

The list that was inside the Ankh contained names, obviously, because the man in the temple checked their names against what was written on the list. Everyone that was there was on the list, and everyone on the list - WAS TOUCHED IN THEIR LIFE BY JACOB. Except Miles, but he was born on the island, which may make him exempt from some weird rule about the temple. Just a thought...

Great work! Keep it up!kmlaphamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11851433365122778497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1674172348630471306.post-18043587514002714472010-02-04T19:38:21.946-05:002010-02-04T19:38:21.946-05:00Okay so, here is a very large theory compiled by L...Okay so, here is a very large theory compiled by Lindsay and I:

This first part is hers. In reference to the shackles comment about Richard and his inability to age, as well as the fact that Ben was told if he was healed by the temple he would be changed forever (via lostpedia: he would lose his innocence, never be the same again, forget the whole event, and "always be one of us"). We think that putting these together points to a possible servitude. That after being dunked in the clear pool at the temple people are forever in servitude to Jacob. In addition, it would make sense that this was the loophole, that Smokey had to find a way for one of Jacob's servants to kill him (finding any random person to kill Jacob doesn't really justify such an elaborately planned loophole).

Here's where my theory comes in:

So, extrapolate that to Sayid's dunking in the water. He was saved by the temple and is clearly being set up as a Christ figure -- resurrected, the whole arms out thing, Jacob's claim of his importance. In addition he's Muslim and a Muslim Christ figure is kind of a mind fuck, in a good Lost-like way. Anyways, I digress, the water is murky now -- our guess is that it entails a sort of sea-change. In other words, it still holds the same powers, but now since the demise of Jacob, anyone dunked becomes a servant of Smokey. So, here's the super-crazy-far-out kicker. Because of his servitude and following with the aforementioned servant loophole, by becoming submissive to Smokey, Sayid is being set up to be the one person who can defeat Smokey. He is the Muslim Christ figure who redeems the island by destroying the darkness.

Whoo. There we go. I hope that was somewhat coherent. Can't wait for more!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1674172348630471306.post-30563157913989765272010-02-03T20:25:10.820-05:002010-02-03T20:25:10.820-05:00Josh! Tyra would flip over her long curly pirate hair. I hope we get to see more of her, minus the nasty flight attended outfit in the future.

Dave made the same comment about not being blown away. I've got to say, when we found about about Smokey/Man In Black, I was blown away, but that was about the only part that flipped my lid.

I also was hoping for a Shannon/Boone lip lock. There's nothing like incest on a Tuesday night.

Miss you Josh, come back soon!kmlaphamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11851433365122778497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1674172348630471306.post-48897021642103174942010-02-03T19:57:42.852-05:002010-02-03T19:57:42.852-05:00By far the best part about last night was seeing t...By far the best part about last night was seeing that sexy bitch Cindy back in action. I think you mentioned in your inital post soemthing about how great Lost is becuase it can take a minor character and turn them into something awesome. They did that with Cindy. She looked extra fierce in that pirate get-up she had on at the temple.

Last night did not blow me away but I think it did a good job of setting up the season and giving us just enough answer to keep us from going crazy.

The worst part of the night was seeing Boone without his sister/lover Shannon.

I love your Blog Katelyn.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
